Heaven on earth…

One of the most delightful places on this planet for me is a particular beach.  I have spent hours there.  Sometimes walking.  Sometimes soaking up the sunshine.  On a particular occasion swimming metres from baby dolphins and their family.  Often praying.  It is a place of peace and grace.  Perhaps as close as I have come to heaven on earth.  It is known as Angels Beach.

This afternoon I took a moment to check the weather forecast for the next few days for this place.  It simply stated “Cyclone”.

A sad reality of this wondrous planet is that sometimes storms come.  More often than not without warning, and nearly always out of our control.  Do you have a storm in your life?  Has one just passed?  Or is the forecast ominous?

On more than one occasion the story of God has spoken of storms.  It could be weather.  It might be conflict.  On one occasion at least it was war.  What was God’s advice?  “Be still.”

Yes.  The most difficult time to be still is in the midst of out-of-control chaos.  Yet there is a place of heaven on earth.  It’s in the presence of God.  It is a place of stillness.  Look for him.   You will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.
