Wot! No gravy?

Gravy.  I love that stuff.  I love how the essence of its richness and flavour emanate from the heart of the dish itself.  When the gravy hits my plate, nothing is untouched.  Everything swims in it.  The flavours of the meal aren’t smothered, but oh how they are enhanced!  Gravy is a must have thing.

From WWII the popular graffiti image of a man with his nose over a wall with the words, “Kilroy was here”, evolved into a similar image but saying, “Wot? No gravy?”  A renowned Australian chef has been quoted, “If there’s steak there needs to be sauce!”  Seriously Peter?  Sauce is simply a fancy name for gravy.  Gravy has gastronomic and cultural importance.

The actual image of Kilroy is said to have been inspired by the Greek alphabet letter for ‘omega’.  In terms of the Greek ‘alpha’ and the ‘omega’, alpha is the beginning of the things, and omega is the end.  Even more evidence: at the end of things gravy is essential.

What might Christian gravy be?  May I suggest it might be the delectable relationship with the Holy Spirit?  Of the same essence and flavour of Jesus and the Father, covering and enhancing every aspect of the ‘exquisite meal’ of living.

Delicious.
