A culture of care…

Our church recently joined with our local community in the Kariong Community Billy Cart Derby.  It was sensational!  Listening in to feedback it seems it was thoroughly appreciated around our community.  As often is the case, a common thread emerged; so often people of varying ages, genders, life circumstances chose unprompted to care for and support complete strangers.  Some kids were without someone to push their cart, so other children jumped in with exceptional vigour and excitement to help.  Adults joined the party as well.  Yes, it was a bit scary at times, but it was so much fun!

My favourite book of wisdom says, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labour: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.”  How beautiful to see this in practice!  I would like to think the older people taught our younger generations something wonderful.  Yet, the truth is our children often led the way inspiring and teaching just as much.

Those same words of wisdom continue to say, “A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”  We have an amazing future if the Derby Day and future events set this culture to be the culture of our communities.  Well done all who participated!
