One thing about Jesus…
If you had one opportunity to say one thing about Jesus, what might it be?
I would paint a word picture. Imagine Jesus invites you to his place. It’s pristine inside. Maybe a little too much white. Apparently that’s holiness decor. Even the floors are sparkling white ceramic tiles. Jesus extends his arms and welcomes you in. You spin around in delight marvelling at this magnificent place, sparkling like the stars in the universe. Peaceful. Tranquil.
Then, the ‘oh no!” moment. Your shoes are absolutely covered in dirt, grime, and who knows what you’ve trodden in. And there’s the trail… all the way from the front door. There’s a look of horrified dread on your face as you look at Jesus. What’s he going to say? What’s he going to do? How much trouble am I in?
Jesus calmly walks to a cupboard and returns with two buckets, two sponges and cleaning products. He beckons you to kneel beside him and invites you to join him as you clean the mess together. That’s what I want to say about Jesus. He’s not cranky about any mess ups. He doesn’t expect us to clean up our act before we come in. Sure. We might need to take responsibility. But Jesus always works with us to make things right. We’re in this together.
