We’re going way too fast…

According to people who know things our little blue green planet not only orbits the sun, but our entire solar system and galaxy is on a trajectory through space.  Planet Earth travels around 940 million kilometres a year.  That’s over 100,000 kilometres per hour.  I don’t know about others, but does anyone else ever think, “Let me off!  We’re going way too fast!”  Now we know why.

What was God thinking?  Can’t we just slow things down?  Apparently not.  Apparently we are hard wired to be dynamic.  Yet a question remains: How can we find peace and quiet in all of this?

I like the word dynamic because it comes from one of my favourite ancient Greek words – dunamis.  In the Christian Bible this word is often used to describe the “power” of the Holy Spirit.  Perhaps this is a hint?  If we are inherently dynamic maybe the place of rest is joining with the Creator of all this and enjoying the ride?  Let the driver drive, and watch as he leans forward and puts us on cruise control.
