A light bulb moment...
Have you ever had a light bulb moment? You know. When the proverbial light bulb comes to life over your head, and suddenly everything becomes clear and makes sense. I like to call it ‘inspiration’.
According to dictionary.com some definitions of inspiration are: “an inspiring or animating action or influence” and “a divine influence directly and immediately exerted upon the mind or soul.” Spiritual animation. Not just a bright idea or a pleasant philosophy, but something that moves us to action.
At Kariong Church we are “Inspired by Hope”. In the ancient Book of Proverbs, it says “Hope deferred makes the heart unwell, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.” In our modern context we often see hope as something we wish for. We cross our fingers and wait and wait ‘hoping’ something will happen. We are inspired by a different kind of hope. Our kind of hope is alive and well, and a part of living. Our online dictionary continues to say ‘inspiration’ is also a medical term, meaning to breath in and breath out. Hope becomes life itself.
Hope changes things. When the light bulb comes on, we see the world differently. Light pushes back darkness. In the midst of this darkness we are ‘inspired’ by the Light of the world. This hope animates our lives. It moves us to action.
